Global market making firm GETCO has appointed Daniel Coleman to its business development team as managing director.

Coleman joins from investment bank UBS where he was global head of equities. At UBS he was also a member of the executive committee and group managing board and chaired the bank's equities management and IB-institutional client committees.

“I look forward to joining GETCO's team in leveraging the firm's technology and risk management leadership to help investors solve their liquidity and trade execution needs,” said Coleman in a statement.

“Daniel is well respected throughout the financial services industry for his experience building and leading world-class businesses,” added GETCO co-founder Stephen Schuler.

“He will be a tremendous asset as GETCO continues to grow and evolve, and we are excited he has chosen to join the firm.”

Coleman's appointment closely follows the hire of ex-Instinet executive John Fildes in a similar role for GETCO in Asia.

GETCO is a currently a registered market maker on US exchanges Nasdaq, NYSE Arca and BATS Exchange, as well as having supplemental liquidity provider and designated market marker status on NYSE Euronext.
