HKEx names new risk chief

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing has appointed Ketan Patel to the new position of group risk officer.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEx) has appointed Ketan Patel to the new position of group risk officer.

Patel is currently co-head of clearing risk management and in charge of the risk management teams for fixed income, currency and commodities and OTC clearing.

He will now oversee all of the HKEx group’s risk functions and head the new risk management division, which will be restructured to include the enterprise risk management team that is now part of the listing and regulatory affairs division.

Now reporting to Patel from the clearing risk management department is Chris Jones, who will continue to serve as the chief risk officer of LME Clear and Felix Wang, who will continue as head of clearing risk management in Hong Kong.

Before joining HKEx, Patel held various risk management roles at US-based CME Group from 2005 to 2011.
