ICE hires top US regulator as new chief regulatory officer for NYSE

Industry veteran and former US CFTC official has been hired to lead the exchange’s independent regulatory subsidiary, NYSE Regulation.

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) has hired a former top US regulator as the new chief regulatory officer for the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).  

Industry veteran Jaime L. Klima will join NYSE in January 2021, where she will be responsible for overseeing its independent regulatory unit, NYSE regulation.

Leading a team of a 100 attorneys and industry professionals, NYSE Regulation will monitor and enforce issuers’ compliance with listing standards, members’ compliance with relevant exchange rules and federal securities laws, and exchanges’ compliance with their self-regulatory organisation obligations.  

Kilma joins from the U S Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) where she was the chief of staff and chief operating officer. Prior to that she spent over seven years at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) working in various roles including chief counsel, Office of the Chairman.

Back in November Paul Kenyon, head of sales and relationship management left his position at NYSE after almost five years with the exchange operator.  He joined high-frequency trading firm Jump Trading this month.
