US broker Knight Capital has announced that George Sohos has been promoted to lead its Electronic Trading Group (ETG).
Sohos, who joined Knight in 2000 and has been a senior member of the ETG management team since 2005, replaces Jamil Nazarali, who resigned from Knight along with ETG managing director Matt Cushman at the end of February 2011.
Prior to joining Knight, Sohos worked as a software engineer at IBM and as a senior scientist at Enviro Engineering.
Sohos will report to Thomas Joyce, chairman and CEO, Knight Capital Group.
Since Nazarali's departure, Steven Sadoff, executive vice president and head of operations, services and technology, has held temporary responsibility for the ETG unit.
“George has been an instrumental part of the growth and development of Knight’s Electronic Trading Group from the start,” said Joyce. “As one of the industry’s top electronic trading teams, ETG generates the deep, in-house liquidity which is the foundation of Knight’s market making and trading. George has a thorough understanding of the role, ETG talent and Knight’s strategy. Under his direction, we plan to further expand client market making and principal trading activities across geographies and asset classes.”
