Matt Johnson has joined Marex as head of business development, ETF capital markets –
EMEA.
His appointment is set to support the international expansion of Marex’s ETF capital markets business.
Based in London, Johnson will be responsible for developing relationships with ETF and exchange-traded product (ETP) issuers, asset managers and institutional market participants across EMEA.
Johnson brings more than 30 years of experience across institutional markets, and has held various senior roles across the industry, including at both buy- and sell-side institutions.
Conor Foley, global head of business development, ETF capital markets at Marex said that expanding the firm’s capabilities across EMEA was “a natural next step” following the growth of the US business and that Johnson’s appointment was “an important milestone” in supporting clients across the region.
Johnson joins Marex from wealthtech firm Quantifeed, having led business development for EMEA.
Previous roles include stints at Invesco, Source ETF, ETF Securities, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, Nomura, Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan Asset Management,

Commenting on his appointment in an official statement, Johnson said he was “delighted to be joining Marex at such an exciting stage in the growth of its ETF capital markets business”, adding that there was “a significant opportunity to build on that success internationally.”
