People Moves Monday: Fidelity International, Peel Hunt, Barclays and more…

The past week has been one for the books, with a multitude of hires across the buy- and sell-side including new heads of desk and trader appointments.  

Fidelity International 

Keong Kim has joined Fidelity International after almost three years as head of trading at global asset manager PineBridge Investments.   

London-based Kim will serve as an emerging markets fixed income trader in his role at Fidelity International.   

Kim brings more than a decade of fixed income trading experience to his new position, and initially joined PineBridge Investments as a fixed income trader in 2016, where he held a vice president position in global emerging markets corporates.   

Kim later stepped up as head of trading in October 2023 and also served as an assistant portfolio manager alongside this role.   

In 2022, Kim was recognised as one of The TRADE’s Rising Stars of Trading and Execution, an accolade which celebrates promising talent on the buy-side.   

Peel Hunt 

Peel Hunt has made a hire into its US equities division, appointing Paul Treacy as an equity sales trader.   

Treacy joins the firm based in New York, and brings more than forty years of equity markets experience to his new role, where he is set to bolster Peel Hunt’s trading offering.   

Prior to joining Peel Hunt, he spent more than two decades at Numis Securities where he most recently headed up the firm’s US international sales trading.   

Before this, he also worked across financial sector trading at JP Morgan Chase for seven years, as well as two years as a UK equity trader at First Boston.   

Treacy gained early career experience as a European equity trader at Salomon Brothers, where he worked for more than nine years.   

Barclays 

Nick Field has joined Barclays Investment Bank’s futures and options sales and trading team. 

He previously served as EMEA F&O co-head of FICC execution at Bank of America, having joined the firm in 2005 as a director.  

London-based Field is set to report to Ian Raindell in the new role, The TRADE understands.  

Bloomberg 

Arif Merali has joined Bloomberg as global head of rates electronic trading after more than five years at the Bank of England.   

Merali will be based in London in his new role, where he will support the expansion of Bloomberg’s global electronic trading offering.   

During his time at the Bank of England, he served as a senior advisor, where he provided technical advice and policy support to the bank’s executive director of markets, as well as the wider markets directorate.   

Merali brings extensive industry experience to his new role, and previously served as head of BGP swaps trading at Nomura, a position he held for almost a year.   

Prior to this, he also worked as Credit Suisse for more than 15 years, where he headed up the firm’s GBP rates trading.   

Merali also gained early career experience at Mizuho Capital Markets as a JPY interest rates derivatives trader.   

Bernstein 

Bernstein has expanded its high touch offering, appointing Katrina Pattemore as a high touch sales trader.   

Pattemore will be based in London, and brings more than 30 years of market expertise and experience to the firm.   
 
She will also have a particular focus on UK clients in her new role.  

Prior to joining Bernstein, Pattemore held a similar position at BNP Exane.   

Bernstein also confirmed that additional hires will be added to the team over the next few months, as the firm looks to continually build out its high touch offering across EMEA.   

Oak Hill Advisors 

Global alternative asset manager Oak Hill Advisors has named Alex Jamieson as managing director, head of European trading.   

Jamieson brings more than 15 years of industry experience to his new role, having worked in various positions across both the buy- and sell-side.   

Prior to joining Oak Hill Advisors, Jamieson spent three years at Hayfin Capital Management, where he served as head of European high yield and syndicated loans trading.   

He also spent nearly a year at Man Group, working in a role covering capital asset solutions.   

Previously, Jamieson held a seven-year tenure at Apollo Global Management as a trader, and began his industry career as an analyst at NatWest Markets.
