REGIS-TR appoints new chief executive from Iberclear

Thomas Steinmann to succeed Elena Carnicero as new head of European trade repository.

Luxembourg-based European trade repository REGIS-TR has announced the appointment of Thomas Steinmann as the company’s new chief executive officer.

Steinmann joins REGIS-TR from Spanish Central Securities Depository, Iberclear, where he was an external advisor for strategic projects in the area of domestic and cross-border post-trade securities services.

He held prior roles with Deutsche Bank in Madrid, initially with responsibility for non-resident institutional clients’ securities clearing and custody activity in the Spanish market, and from 2006 to 2017 as head of securities clearing and custody, and depository bank services for all the bank’s institutional clients.

Steinmann replaces previous REGIS-TR chief executive, Elena Carnicero, who was appointed to the role in 2014.

REGIS-TR operates as a central trade repository for trades and transactions across various product classes and jurisdictions, providing reporting services for regulations such as EMIR and SFTR, as well as for legal entity identifier (LEI) allocations.

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Steimann as new CEO. He has many years of experience in the regulatory environment,” commeted Philip Brown, REGIS-TR chairman of the Board. Our business has grown and thrived under Elena’s leadership, and we are grateful to her for her contribution towards building the REGIS-TR franchise. We wish her every success in her next role.”
