The joint initiative aims to provide more seamless pathways for investors looking to access markets in both Singapore and the Philippines by providing a broader range of products for trading opportunities.

Speaking to The TRADE, a spokesperson for SGX confirmed that the expanded product suite will include unsponsored depository receipts, theme-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and remote membership access.

Moreover, both exchanges will host dedicated workshops and engagements to ensure the necessary regulatory and operational frameworks are established to provide market stability and compliance.

Ramon Monzon, PSE president and chief executive, said: “This collaboration with SGX Group marks a significant step toward strengthening connectivity between the Philippine and Singapore capital markets and expanding opportunities for both issuers and investors.

“By exploring new investment products, enhancing market access and fostering closer engagement among market participants, we aim to broaden investment choices, attract greater investor participation and deepen market liquidity.”

The collaboration comes as Southeast Asia becomes an increasingly attractive region for international investors, many of whom are leveraging Singapore’s positioning across Asean markets for growth objectives.

SGX’s spokesperson also added that the joint initiative is set to “serve as a blueprint for broader, multilateral collaboration across the Asean region.”

Both SGX and PSE will also work continually with regulators and other market participants as the initiative progresses.

“ASEAN’s growth story is increasingly attracting the attention of investors around the world,” added Loh Boon Chye, chief executive of SGX Group.

“Closer links between our markets can make that opportunity more accessible, while giving companies more avenues to reach capital and investors across the region. Our collaboration with PSE takes a practical approach to building those connections, from market access to new investment products that can bring our markets closer together.”
