As the recipient of The TRADE Legacy Award, Toby Baker has been recognised as an individual who has gone above and beyond throughout his career, leaving a lasting legacy.

Baker received his award at Leaders in Trading 2026 on Thursday, and in his acceptance speech, he recounted defining moments of his industry career and highlighted the importance of continually challenging yourself across markets to achieve success.

As head of FX trading at T. Rowe Price, Baker’s three-decade long tenure at the firm saw him at the very helm of the FX and electronic trading revolution, as markets have developed and adapted in recent years to new technological advancements and automation.

Baker was the third person to join fixed income international at T. Rowe Price, and was the first trader to join fixed income, leaving a legacy not just across the industry but also across many aspects of the firm.

He began his industry career in settlements, before later joining desks at Daiwa Asset Management and Robert Fleming, assuming a front row seat to the evolution of FX markets and trading.

Since retiring from T. Rowe Price earlier this year, Baker’s legacy still lives on, and he is currently co-founder of industry recruitment and advisory firm PeerLink, as well as an active contributor to industry discussions and panels.

Baker’s wealth of experience and dedication have secured him considerable respect across the industry. His enduring impact and continued commitment to shaping and strengthening the future of the markets make this recognition thoroughly deserved.

The TRADE extends its warmest congratulations to Baker on his achievements and the lasting legacy he continues to build across the industry.
