Tradeweb hires Harvest Global Investments chief to lead Asia business

James Sun joins Tradeweb as head of Asia after over four years at Harvest Global Investments as chief executive officer.

Fixed income trading platform provider Tradeweb has appointed the former chief executive of Harvest Global Investments to head up its business in Asia.

James Sun joins Tradeweb as head of Asia after serving for over four years at Harvest Global Investments, the international arm of Chinese asset manager Harvest Fund Management, as chief executive officer.

Previously in his career, Sun spent 17 years as a managing director for Asia Pacific at brokerage Charles Schwab.

In his new Shanghai-based role, Sun will be responsible for Tradeweb’s operations across its offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore. Sun will report to Enrico Bruni, managing director, head of the Europe and Asia business, and work closely with Li Renn Tsai, managing director and head of product and sales.

“Asia is home to some of the world’s most vibrant and important financial markets, and this appointment underscores our ongoing commitment to delivering global connectivity, efficiency and transparency to our clients across the region,” said Lee Olesky, chief executive of Tradeweb Markets.

In September, Tradeweb’s former head of Asia and managing director for sales, Andrew Bernard, joined the advisory board of outsourced dealing start-up BTON Financial as a non-executive director. He had been with Tradeweb for more than 17 years in several senior positions.

“I have spent much of my career facilitating investment flows between local markets and the rest of the world, and Tradeweb is ideally positioned to underpin the future evolution of this exciting growth story,” Sun commented.
