People Moves Monday: Instinet, Piper Sandler and Marex

The past week saw continued movement across the industry, with a blockbuster sell-side head of liquidity departure, as well as hires across electronic sales and outsourced trading.  

Instinet 

Simon Dove has left his role as managing director, head of liquidity at Instinet, after more than five years at the firm. 

London-based Dove joined Instinet in 2021, bringing more than two decades of industry experience to his role at the agency-model broker.   

Dove is currently on gardening leave, and his next role is unknown. Instinet confirmed the departure when contacted by The TRADE.   

Over the course of his career, Dove has been a key industry figure, speaking on various industry events and conferences on differing topics, including The TRADE’s annual Rising Stars of Trading and Execution Awards.   

Prior to his time at Instinet, Dove served in various liquidity-based roles, including four years working across liquidity management at Tower Research Capital Europe, and almost seven years at Sun Trading International in a position covering European business development.   

Earlier in his career, Dove held an extensive tenure at the London Stock Exchange, serving in various roles for almost nine years.   

Specifically, he served in sectors spanning institutional brokerage, business development, liquidity provision, equities and derivatives.   

Piper Sandler 

Piper Sandler has expanded its electronic trading team with the addition of Anthony Victor.   

New York-based Victor joins investment bank as a director in electronic sales trading after five years at Liquidnet.   

Victor is set to support the growth of Piper Sandler’s electronic trading platform, as well as deepen institutional client engagement.   

He brings more than two decades of electronic trading experience to his new role, and during his time at Liquidnet, served in a role covering global execution and quantitative services.   

Prior to this, he also spent more than 11 years at RBC Capital Markets as a managing director in electronic sales trading.   

Earlier in his career, Victor also held a 16-year tenure at Merrill Lynch, which he initially joined in 1993 as a vice president, portfolio trader, block trader and operations specialist, before later going on to head up the firm’s US electronic sales trading.   

Marex 

Marex has expanded its outsourced trading capabilities in Asia, with the addition of Charlie Woodcock to its Hong Kong-based team as an international outsourced trader.   

Woodcock’s appointment aligns with growing demand for outsourced trading both in Asian markets and across the world.   

He brings more than two decades of institutional trading experience to his new role, having most recently served as a managing director in APAC outsourced trading for buy-side clients at Outset Global, a role he held for more than three years.   

Prior to this, Woodcock also held positions as head trader at Zaaba Capital and senior equity trader at Asiya Investments, both based in Hong Kong.   

Earlier in his career, he also worked in trading-related roles at firms including Louis Capital Markets and Merril Lynch.
