Barclays hires Nomura equity derivatives expert in APAC role

Incoming individual has previously worked at: Nomura, Credit Suisse and Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking.

Barclays has appointed Jean-Baptiste Patois as head of equity derivatives ex-strategic derivatives, Asia Pacific, responsible for leading exotics and flow derivatives.

He was most recently managing director and head of equity derivatives trading, Asia ex-Japan at Nomura.

Hong Kong-based Patois is set to report regionally to Hossein Zaimi, head of markets, APAC, and functionally to Ashish Prabhudesai, global head of structured derivatives and non-US Flow.

Speaking to the appointment, Prabhudesai commented: “JB’s track record and expertise are exceptional and we are thrilled to have him with us. His valuable industry experience will be a key driver as we continue to expand our global derivatives business in the region.”

Patois has a wealth of experience working in equity derivatives focused roles across several markets including North America and Europe. 

Past roles have included stints as head of exo, flow and hybrids for APAC at Credit Suisse and before that as an equity derivatives trader at Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking.
