BATS Trading, which operates the BATS ECN and was founded in June 2005 in response to consolidation in the exchange space, has promoted Chris Isaacson to chief operating officer. Isaacson will report to Joe Ratterman, who was appointed president and chief executive of BATS on July 1.

Mr. Isaacson was previously vice president in charge of operations and has been with BATS since its incorporation in June 2005. He previously managed the trade desk at BATS and, as a developer, was instrumental in the creation of the architecture of the BATS platform.

"Chris has played a critical role in BATS' growth since joining us as a founding employee in 2005, and we are very excited to announce his promotion," comments Mr. Ratterman. "From day one, he has demonstrated the ability to execute at a high level, and we fully expect his great knowledge of our system and our subscribers to continue to pay great dividends."

Mr. Isaacson began his career as a software engineer at Cerner Corp., a publicly-traded healthcare information systems supplier based in Kansas City. He holds a degree in computer science and business from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska.
