Liquidnet’s global head of equities departs after eight years with the firm

Departing head leaves the firm after serving in a variety of senior positions including chief operating officer and global head of equity strategy.

Liquidinet’s global head of equities, Rob Laible, has left the firm after serving in his most recent role for a year and a half.

Laible spent that last eight years at Liquidnet in a variety of senior positions including chief operating officer, global head of equity strategy, operations and risk, global head of equity strategy and global head of execution and quantitative services.

“The thing I will take away the most is how much I enjoyed working with amazing colleagues that cared deeply about the firm and our mission to make the markets more efficient.”

Before joining Liquidnet, Laible was division director at Macquarie Group, where he served as head of program trading and electronic execution for Asia.

Prior to that, he served as managing director at Nomura Securities and Lehman Brothers for four and 10 years, respectively.

“I had many different roles over the years between being global head of execution and quantitative services to COO to global head of equities,” said Laible in a social media post announcing his departure.

“But the thing I will take away the most is how much I enjoyed working with amazing colleagues that cared deeply about the firm and our mission to make the markets more efficient. I wish Liquidnet nothing but the best going forward.”

Laible has stated that he is currently on garden leave and has not yet revealed where he will be moving to next.

Liquidnet declined to comment on the departure.
