The new hires all join from Tourmaline Partners, and are set to support the firm’s US expansion and overall growth.  

The new contracts will include stocks from the S&P 500, Nasdaq-100 and Russell 1000 indices, and follow a recent surge in institutional demand for equity derivatives across the industry. 

The appointment is expected to bolster Bernstein’s Continental and Dutch platform and strengthen the firm’s franchise in the region.  

Appointment brings more than a decade of equities sales trading experience to his new position, and also served at Numis Securities earlier in his career.  

While market volatility can present opportunities to the equities industry, panellists at the Equities Leaders Summit in Miami indicated that market participants should err on the side of caution when it comes to liquidity access methods such as private rooms during these times.  

Offering combines both high and low touch trading across futures and options, rates and equities.

While the US consolidated tape emerged alongside centralised exchanges, the challenge for Europe’s long-awaited iteration lies in its being built after fragmentation became entrenched in its markets, said panellists speaking at the Equities Leaders Summit in Miami on Tuesday. 

With exchanges and industry players commencing plans to shift to extended trading models, experts at the Equities Leaders Summit on Tuesday suggested that buy-side opinions on the prospect are not changing in tandem.
