Wintermute, has registered its US affiliate as a broker-dealer with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
The move formalises the algorithmic trading firm’s entry into regulated US markets.
Specifically, Wintermute USA will operate as a regulated proprietary trading firm, providing liquidity to national securities exchanges and OTC counterparties.

The registration enables the firm to trade traditional equities and equity options, act as an authorised participant for exchange-traded products – including those tied to digital assets – for its own proprietary account, and self-clear digital asset securities transactions on the same basis.
Evgeny Geovoy, founder and chief executive, of Wintermute, said: “Our long-term conviction has always been that digital asset markets will evolve in more than one direction. Digital assets and traditional finance will continue to develop in parallel, intersect in new ways, and ultimately integrate more deeply. As the landscape evolves, the firms that succeed will be those that have technical and operational know-how to operate in both.”
Additionally, the firm confirmed that the launch of Wintermute USA reflects broader shifts in market structure, as institutional trading activity increasingly spans asset classes, venues and settlement rails.

The move extends a period of steady infrastructure build-out for Wintermute, which last month completed the integration of its spot and CFD crypto liquidity into oneZero’s ecosystem.
Taken together, the broker-dealer registration and the oneZero tie-up, point to a firm broadening its regulated and institutional footprint on multiple fronts simultaneously.
