Vanguard has named Rachel Baxter head of investment management, Europe, following a decade with the firm.
She was most recently co-head of the US Bond Index team, overseeing more than $1.4 trillion in AUM.
Speaking about the appointment, Jon Cleborne, head of Europe, Vanguard, said:
“Rachel is exceptionally well placed to lead the next stage of our development in Europe. She brings a rare combination of investment expertise, leadership experience and a deep understanding of our clients’ needs.
“Vanguard has built a substantial international investment offering, with the UK and Europe playing an increasingly important role as part of our global portfolio management, trading and research capabilities. We see significant opportunities ahead and will continue to invest in the products, expertise and infrastructure that support strong, long-term results for clients.”
London-based Baxter succeeds Geoff Parish who is set to return to the US as global head of fixed income indexing.
In the role, Baxter will specifically oversee trading, portfolio management, investment research and capital markets across the firm’s European business – as well as leading the European Bond Index team.
Previous roles at the firm also include stints as a portfolio manager within Vanguard’s Global Bond Index team, as well as various other roles spanning global fixed income investment strategy, portfolio construction and European credit research.
